SERJ TANKIAN In Milan; Video Footage, Photos Available

April 18, 2008

Fan-filmed video footage of SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian performing a cover of DEAD KENNEDYS' "Holiday In Cambodia" last night (Thursday, April 17) at the conclusion of his concert in Milan, Italy can be viewed below. Photos from the show can be found at Musica Metal.

According to Musica Metal, "Holiday In Cambodia" was the only song in Tankian's 65-minute set that wasn't culled from the singer's first solo album, "Elect The Dead".

During the show, Serj twice expressed his regret over the results of the Italian presidential elections, which put right-wing media mogul Silvio Berlusconi back in power for the third time in his political career. He then introduced the Italian-born bass player of his touring band, Mario, who greeted the crowd with a speech in his native tongue.

As previously reported, Serj Tankian has been added to the lineup of this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, scheduled for April 25-27 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California. With SCARS ON BROADWAY, the new band featuring SYSTEM guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, previously announced for the festival, speculation has started about whether the musicians will get together for a surprise SYSTEM reunion. The band has been on hiatus since the fall of 2006, with Tankian releasing his first solo album, "Elect the Dead", last fall. The SCARS ON BROADWAY debut is due out this summer.

Malakian recently told MTV.com that SYSTEM's hiatus may be permanent, saying, "If anyone's holding their breath for a SYSTEM record, they're going to turn blue and pass out. It's a long ways away, if it ever even happens."
